Subscribing to email lists is a great way to keep abreast of
current events in the agility world, from new trials to the
latest ADCH and MACH holders, as well as information on national
and regional events. Below are some of the more popular
agility related lists, but there are a lot more out there!
Agiledogs - a high volume list with
many international subscribers. Be prepared for lots of
email if you don't subscribe to their "digest" format!
Agility - one of the many agility related groups at www.yahoogroups.com - also a high volume list that you may want to subscribe to as a digest.
AwesomePawsAnnouncements - Linda Mecklenburg camps and foundation seminars, as well as books, clinics, etc., are announced here.
AwesomePawsHandlingSystem - a high volume list with a lot of discussion regarding the Awesome Paws Handling System (just as the name implies). High volume but also high quality information.
Other Misc. Links
LoLaBuLand
- One of the best sites out there. Silvia has amazing
videos of her dogs and of herself, doing tricks, doing agility,
and just hanging out. Not only is she a great trainer and
handler, but I really appreciate her philosophy about the whole
thing. Stumbling across her videos and website in early
2007 was a turning point for me, and was one of the things that
spurred me to leave high school teaching and go full time with
the dog training thing.
Awesome Paws - Linda Mecklenburg's website, filled with a lot of information on Linda, her dogs, and her handling system. As a side note, I'm the webmaster of this site.
The USA Agility Team Website - The official website of the USA/AKC World Team. Information on past and present World Teams and World Championships can be found here.
CleanRun - publishers of a great magazine just for agility. They also have lots of neat stuff at their website.
Agilitynet.com - see news from the birthplace of agility - the UK
Border Collie Rescue - Fly came from border collie rescue, and I couldn't be happier with him. Chances are, if you're looking for a border collie, there's one there that will suit your needs. You can get exactly what you want without (in many cases) having to go through puppy stuff, which is often what puts these wonderful dogs in to rescue in the first place!
King Island Doggie Treats - Kathryn King, a local competitor, makes these tasty treats for her canines. Dogs love them, and they can be parceled out in tiny little bits, making them great for training lots of fun behaviors. Plus, they don't smell half bad!
www.brisbeethewhite.com - a very entertaining website maintained by another Portland, Oregon area agility competitor. Her blog is definitely a good read for all you dog lovers, and is updated frequently.
www.mentalmanagement.com - Lanny Bassham's Mental Management Systems. Mental management is such an important aspect of any sport, for any athlete, at every level of competition. His books and CDs are invaluable - a must for any agility competitor.
